Texte complet :
Postcard from Margaret Ripley to her mother, sent 24 February 1915 (6254937859)

Précision complémentaire :
Sent by a nurse, Margaret Ripley, to her mother back in England.

As far as I can tell (corrections and additions welcome) this reads: "28.1.15 Letter received today. Hope parcels will have better luck & find me some day. Today we had visit from White[?] from Dunkirk & Mr Morgan a Guy's man they bought us [???] shirts, slippers socks etc such a nice crate full. Don't send [???] or too much rather spend money here most kind of everyone. The administrator thinks we have everything neccessary & they say will not like to see our [stoves/stores???]. Don't worry we are a long way from [D? Dunkirk???] though can hear guns booming in distance & don't expect a card directly you hear of raids as I may not know of them but still will write often. Love Mar" Then in a slightly darker ink, suggesting it was written later "another raid[?] out[?] last night"

This is the first sign we have seen in the cards of the reality of war and her presence close to the front. For more details of the story behind this album see www.flickr.com/photos/whatsthatpicture/sets/7215762769463...
