Addressed to my grandmother Miss May Ashby, Olinda, Hawthorn Road, Galloways Hill, Brisbane. Somewhere in France 22/7/16 Dear May, Just a P.C. to let you know I'm still in the land of the living and seeing a bit of the Globe, I will drop you a P.C. from Berlin when we push through. Hoping this finds you Bon , Kindest regards to all from an old friend W.H. Brougham Corporal William Henry Brougham had known my grandmother from the country town where they both grew up - Childers, Queensland. Unfortunately only months after writing this card he was killed in action, on 3 September, and is buried near Pozieres in France. Look in comments below to see a photo of W.H. Brougham.
